Art Topiary specialises in a variety of living sculptures ranging from abstract or geometrical shapes to individual human figures. The sculptures can be supplied readymade in containers, suitable for planting out in a variety of settings. For example a group of box people sitting together on a lawn picnicking or engaged in conversation will provide a witty and sophisticated centre piece. 

These unique living plant structures combine a level of artistry and quirkiness that make them a real talking point in a private garden or public setting.

How long does it take and how soon will it produce the Wow! factor?

If we are supplying well furnished shapes in containers than can either feature individually or be put together in groups or as components of a larger installation then there is no lead time and it will look 'finished' immediately. If no the other hand the sculpture requires hard pruning of plants for a particular shape, then they will take time to recover and produce new dense growth.

How much looking after does a 'living sculpture' require?

The topiary needs to be established in well drained, moisture retentive and fertile soil. This may need some modification to your site which could include drainage, importing top soil and humus, feeding and irrigation. A good mulch around the plants will aid moisture retention. Having grass right up to the base of the plants can be problematic both in terms of keeping it cut short and because of the competition for nutrients and water. However, if the sculpture is sitting on a lawn then you may wish it to appear to be surrounded by grass.

We are able to create sculptures to your design in airpots and if necessary, maintain them on our site until you require them. This would enable your creation to become 'well furnished' before installation. In some cases we are also able to offer an installation and maintenance service.
